CTT allowed to take part in British Virgin Islands 700MHz tender
The Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court has ruled that Caribbean Cellular Telephone (CTT) will not be prohinited from taking part in the 700MHz spectrum tender process in the British Virgin Islands.
The tender, which had been on hold since October, is once again in motion.
The court ruled in favor of CTT, overturning the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission's (TRC) rejection of the operator's application, reported BVInews. The ruling allows CTT to retain its current spectrum, despite the fact that the TRC was asking it to vacate 25% of the spectrum in use as a requirement to register for the spectrum award.
CTT asked the Supreme Court to halt the process after the TRC blocked its participation in the tender, accusing the commission of being biased against the company.
Digicel and Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC) also entered the auction.
