Cundinamarca seeks consultant for road program

Bnamericas
Public works officials serving central Colombia's Cundinamarca department have launched the pre-qualification phase for a US$700,000 consulting contract to help design a US$31mn roadway maintenance project, a project official told BNamericas. Interested firms have until September 22 to present pre-qualification documents. The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) approved a US$21.7mn credit in April 2003 for the roadway program, which entails maintaining 1,200km under departmental control. Local funds make up the program balance. The consulting project involves managing resources and prioritizing maintenance works, largely through developing an automatic tracking system, the official said in an e-mail. The overall objective is to stretch program dollars as far as possible, thereby enhancing the department's roadway network and access to neighboring regions.
