CVU opens Megaconcesion bridge contract offers

Corporacion Vial del Uruguay (CVU) has opened offers for two bridge-building contracts worth US$2.8mn in total that fall under the country's highways and bridges "Megaconcesion" project, the CVU reported. Uruguay's national development corporation CND, a private entity that helps support and manage projects that promote investment, operates Megaconcesion through CVU, which won the US$450mn, 15-year contract in 2001. The concession kicked off last August and entails building and maintaining 1,272km of roads and bridges of the national highway network. The bridges will be built over the Tranqueras and Pando streams on highways Ruta 5 and 7 in Rivera and Canelones departments. Companies in the running for the contracts are Stiler, Alvaro Palenga, Hernandez y Gonzalez, SACEEM, Raman C. Alvarez and INCOCI.
