CycleLogic to relaunch Starmedia portal GuiaSP in Oct.

Regional mobile data applications developer CycleLogic plans to relaunch popular entertainment portal GuiaSP in October, with the objective of using the portal as a new sales channel for its solutions, the company said in a statement. GuiaSP was started up by regional portal Starmedia, the now defunct regional portal from which CycleLogic was created. CycleLogic was born in July 2002, when management changed the business model of Starmedia to focus on wireless data solutions. The Starmedia brand was dropped and the Internet assets sold to Spain's EresMas, now a division of French ISP and content provider Wanadoo. GuiaSP provides entertainment and restaurant options for greater Sao Paulo, and previously was funded by ad revenues. Now CycleLogic plans to use the portal to heavily market its applications to residents of Sao Paulo, Brazil's wealthiest market. The relaunch coincides with CycleLogic's present strategy to diversify its sales channels. CycleLogic Brasil CEO Henrique Thoni told BNamericas earlier this month that the company expects to be marketing its wares over Brazil's few top portals over the short-term. Previously subscribers could only buy CycleLogic solutions through operators' websites.
