D-Link aims to break into health segment

Taiwan's network and multimedia solutions provider D-Link has signed a partnership with a Brazilian healthcare consulting firm, IT Care Technologies, to boost health sector business, Brazilian news agency Computerworld reported. D-Link is targeting Brazil's 7,700 small and mid-sized healthcare providers, which comprise 92% of Brazil's healthcare market, and expects to bill US$3mn in the new segment in 2004. Network and multimedia needs currently in demand for Brazilian hospitals include local area network (LAN) and wireless LAN capability, as well as improving transmission of digitalized medical images. D-Link sells its products through its distribution partner Lan Professional.
