PRESS RELEASE from TEN
November 7, 2024
Santiago, November 7, 2024.- In light of the growing energy demand and the imperative transition towards non-conventional renewable energies (ERNC), Redinter strengthens its leadership strategy in the modernization of the electric transmission infrastructure in Latin America with the appointment of David López Cortón as Country Manager in Chile and General Manager of Transmisora Eléctrica del Norte (TEN).
This appointment comes at a crucial time for the industry, where electricity transmission plays a fundamental role in integrating renewable energy sources and building a sustainable energy future. López Cortón succeeds David Montero, who spent his last 8 years at Redinter in Chile, serving as Country Manager since 2020 and General Manager of TEN for the last two years, and who now takes on a new role in the General Directorate of Transport of Red Eléctrica, a subsidiary of the Spanish company Redeia, ensuring a smooth transition and the continuity of the company's strategic objectives.
With a solid track record in the electricity sector, López Cortón brings more than 15 years of experience to Red Eléctrica, including two years in Chile as Deputy Manager of Technology Integration at Redinter and as Strategy and Planning Manager at TEN. His deep knowledge of the local and regional market, combined with his training as an Industrial and Electrical Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, position him to lead Redinter and TEN in this new stage.
"It is a privilege to lead Redinter and TEN at this crucial moment for the industry, where electricity transmission is the backbone of the transition towards a more sustainable electrical system," said López Cortón. "Our approach is centered on leveraging the experience and drive that the Redeia group brings to build, operate and maintain electrical power transmission infrastructures that incorporate the most modern techniques while offering innovative solutions that drive the transformation of the electrical grid, ensuring its reliability and resilience. We will work closely with the public sector, aligning our actions to contribute to compliance with energy transition and decarbonization policies, strengthening the National Electric System (SEN) and contributing to a cleaner energy future in Chile and the region," he added.
López Cortón's experience in technological integration will be key to driving innovation at Redinter and TEN, collaborating in the efficient incorporation of renewable energy and responding to growing energy demand. With a presence in Chile, Peru and Brazil, Redinter and TEN reaffirm their commitment to operational excellence and innovation, consolidating their leadership in the evolution of electric transmission in Latin America. This appointment underlines Redinter's vision of being a key player in building a sustainable energy future, driving economic and social development in the region.
