DigitalBridge’s Highline buys more telecom towers from Oi

DigitalBridge’s telecoms tower subsidiary Highline was the winner of a bidding process for the sale of 8,000 towers related to the fixed operation of Brazilian carrier Oi.

Highline will pay around 1.70bn reais (US$331mn) for the assets, with 1.09bn upon closing, and 609mn by 2026 depending on certain market conditions, Oi said in a statement.

Highline’s NK 108 subsidiary was the sole bidder. IHS Towers and American Tower Corporation, which had been reported as having an interest in the towers, did not present proposals.

This is not the first time that Highline acquires towers from Oi. In November 2020, the company paid 1.06bn reais for 637 mobile phone towers and 222 passive infrastructure points, installed in shopping malls, hotels and other locations.

Highline ended 2021 with 5,392 sites deployed across Brazil, following the record activation of 702 during the year.
