Dominican Rep approves terms for radio spectrum auction
Dominican Republic telecom regulator Indotel unveiled the expected remuneration for the awarding of spectrum licenses in the 700MHz, 2.3GHz and 3.5GHz bands.
In the final version of the bidding terms approved Monday, Indotel set a minimum price for the radio spectrum in the 698-806MHz (700MHZ) band of US$165,000 per MHz per year while the 2,340-2,400MHz band will be auctioned with a base price of US$22,000 per MHz per year, the same as the 3,600-3,700MHz band.
The regulator will auction nine blocks of 10MHz each in the 700MHz band, six blocks of 10MHz each in the 2.3GHz band and 10 blocks of 10MHz in the 3.5GHz band. That would mean a total of US$14.9mn for the 700MHz band auctioned, US$1.32mn for the 2.3GHz band and US$2.20mn for the 3.5GHz band.
The winners will be the ones offering the highest amounts.
The concessions will be for 20 years for new concessionaires and for the period remaining until the end of their license for those companies that are already operating.
According to the schedule approved by the regulator, the deadline for registration of offers and payment of the participation right of US$10,000 is November 27.
On February 19, 2024, the technical proposals and economic bids will be received and opened and the publication of the award resolutions is expected within the following 15 days.
