Dominican Rep awards highway upgrade contracts
The Dominican Republic awarded five contracts to repair over 110km of roads in Barahona and Monte Plata provinces.
The winners were: Constructora Teddy; Constructora Gocusa; IDC Construcciones; Faneyte y Genao, Fagenca; and Remix.
The companies will upgrade 51.9km of the Enriquillo-Cabral highway and 62km of the Monte Plata-Bayaguana-Cevicos route.
“The general objective of this program is to contribute to the improvement of connectivity of the country, through the offer of safe, trustworthy and accessible transportation services,” the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) said in a notice published at the end of last month.
Daily Acento quoted public works and communications minister Deligne Ascención as saying the five contracts are valued at 2.35bn pesos (US$40.3mn), which will be provided by the IDB.
According to the same report, officials from the project execution unit of the ministry said the works will begin in January and the bidding process for the supervision contract is underway to comply with IDB’s requirements.
