Dominican Rep expected to announce new Santo Domingo hospital
The Dominican Republic will announce the construction of a hospital in Santo Domingo, according to local media.
El Nuevo Diario quoted lawmaker Elías Matos of leftist PRM party as saying that “we have information that indicates that the Dominican government has started the paperwork to buy the grounds of old Maharishi school. We trust that the Dominican government listens to our voice, which is the voice of many citizens who wish to have quality and accessible healthcare services.”
Matos added that the 50,000m2 area is strategically positioned for the healthcare network, so the new unit could help take pressure off nearby hospitals.
He said the government should announce the new facility in the next few days. It would add to the other facilities that serve the national district, home to 315,000 residents.
