Dominican Republic authorizes studies for 200MW of renewable capacity

The Dominican Republic's national energy commission (CNE) authorized energy resource studies for three renewable energy projects totaling 200MW.

Two projects are photovoltaic parks Matanzas Solar (49.38MWn) in Peravia province and Parque Caribe Solar (99.9MWn, 30MW battery storage) in Santo Domingo province that are under development by Grupo Enerla Solar and Caribe Energia Renovable, respectively.

The third project is Empresa Generadora de Electricidad Haina's 50MW Los Manantiales I wind farm in Montecristi province.

UL Services Group will conduct the Matanzas studies, Sociedad Espanola de Montajes Industriales the Parque Caribe work, and DNV Energy Systems was hired for Los Manantiales, CNE information shows.

The developers hold provisional concessions for the projects and the studies are part of the process to secure a definitive concession.
