Dominican Republic launches hydro project tender
Dominican Republic state hydroelectric company Egehid launched bidding to support development of the Guayubín, or Boca de los Ríos, dam project.
The winner will provide continuing management, engineering and supervision services for the hybrid project which is under construction and due to be completed in 2026.
Consorcio de Empresas Reunidas de Construcción y Servicios (CERCONS) is the contractor.
The dam is in Santiago Rodríguez province and includes a 40.6m high conventional concrete structure on the Guayubín river to supply water for irrigation and drinking and provide small-scale power generation.
Offers for the 495mn-peso (US$8mn) consultancy contract are due November 26, according to procurement information.
Egehid also has a call underway to define the potential of pumped storage hydropower, while a tender to build the La Gina multipurpose hydro project was cancelled in recent days.
