Dominican Republic launches tender to finish Baní beltway construction
The Dominican Republic launched a 3.60bn-peso (US$63.5mn) tender to finish construction of the Baní beltway, in Peravia province.
The 19km beltway will run from the Sánchez highway to the town of Galeón.
Tender FIDEICOMISO-CCC-LPN-2023-0004 is part of the country’s road preservation and expansion plan, and was published by road trust Fideicomiso RDVial on procurement website Comprasdominicana.
The presentation of technical and economic proposals will take place on September 7, when the envelopes containing the technical bids will be opened.
Launched in November 2021 by the previous government, the project is at 70% progress and was not finished due to lack of funds, according to the current administration.
“When the initial project was tendered the ministry had estimated a 4bn-peso investment, however, only 2.2bn pesos were inexplicably allocated,” local daily Listín Diario reported deputy road infrastructure minister Elías Santana.
