Dominican Republic telco services keep growing
The number of phone accesses in the Dominican Republic grew 0.80% in October, compared to the previous month, reaching 10.7mn lines.
Growth was driven by the addition of 84,427 mobile lines, according to regulator Indotel's latest report.
Internet accesses grew 0.89% as 82,480 access were added, pay TV subscriptions grew 0.18% to 800,177.
Fixed telephony (traditional and VoIP) represented 10.8%, or 1.15mn lines, while mobile represented 89.2%, or 9.58mn lines, of voice service. Mobile telephony grew annually by 8.43% by end-October. Of the total 7.2mn lines were prepaid and 2.35mn postpaid.
Claro remained the market leader with 5.88mn lines, followed by Altice (3.2mn) and Trilogy Viva (494,245).
Annually, internet accesses increased 10.2%, adding over 800,000, while total accesses were 9.34mn.
Claro also leads with 5.5mn lines, followed by Altice with 3.31mn.
In October, Claro captured 53% of new subscribers, Altice 40%, and other providers the rest.
Claro and Altice recently signed concession contracts and committed to investing US$110mn. The operators won 5G spectrum and already started deployment.
