DWF lowers expectations for Mexico’s Chicontepec-Temabra fields
Operadora de Campos DWF, a joint venture between Mexican firm Diavaz and US-Swiss company Weatherford International, lowered its extraction expectations for the Chicontepec and Tamabra conventional fields, located in the Poza Rica municipality of Veracruz state.
During a session on Tuesday, hydrocarbons commission CNH approved a modification to the operator’s 2024-48 development plan, which now involves US$77mn more but much less infrastructure work and oil and gas production.
From US$813mn, the operator will now invest in the same period US$890mn, in part to compensate for the nearly US$40mn that it did not invest in 2021-23.
DWF reduced its programmed activities for the same period to 250 wells, 15 fewer than what was previously approved under the last modification to the plan in 2021, and 406 ducts, 100 less than what was programmed, among others.
As a result, the operator expects production of 54.6Mb of oil compared to 100Mb originally predicted in 2021, and 128Bf3 of gas, down from 206Bf3.
The latest modification is the third approved for the fields' development plan.
Operadora de Campos DWF began extraction in Mexico in 2018. Since then, it has ranked among the country’s top private sector operators and also has concessions for fields such as Miquetla straddling Puebla and Veracruz states.
