Early stage Peru solar, wind projects for over 1GW advance

Peru’s energy and mines ministry granted permanent occupancy easement for Kallpa Generación’s 204MW Sunny solar project in Arequipa region.

The land rights are in La Joya district, according to a ministry resolution.

Kallpa picked up the definitive concession for the proposed photovoltaic park in February.

The ministry also greenlighted definitive concessions for the transmission component of Energía Renovable La Joya’s 385MW Illa solar project and Quercus’ 450MW wind project of the same name.

For its part, Enel Generación Perú secured ministry approval of the reference terms which will be used to prepare the environmental impact study of the 149MW Salineras wind project.

Meanwhile, the ministry accepted requests from Engie Energía Perú and Empresa de Generación Eléctrica Coral to desist from seeking definitive concessions for solar projects Ruphay (142MW) and Coral (403MW).

The reasons for the companies’ decisions were not disclosed.
