Wednesday, December 20, 2023.- Ecoener will invest 200 million dollars in the construction of two flowing hydroelectric plants in Ecuador. The projects are supported by separate PPAs for the supply of electricity for 30 years, signed with the Government of Ecuador.

Ecoener will earn nearly 900 million dollars during that period, once the facilities come into service, scheduled for 24 months after the start of the works.

This concession is the result of the 500 MW of renewable energy tender called by the Ministry of Energy and Mines of the Government of Ecuador in which the company has been awarded 37% of the average annual energy generated, 20% of the nominal power auctioned and 66% of the hydraulic generation block.

The president of Ecoener, Luis de Valdivia, highlighted that "These projects reinforce our solid growth and allow us to increase our hydroelectric energy assets, strategic for Ecoener."

Both facilities have an average plant factor of 70%, which makes them projects with a high productive capacity.

Bet on Ecuador

With a combined power of 99 MW, the Santa Rosa (49.5 MW) and El Rosario (49.5 MW) hydroelectric plants, which will be built in the Ecuadorian region of Morona-Santiago, are run-of-river and do not impound water, adapting its operation to the natural flow regime of the river.

The construction and commissioning process will mean the creation of more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs.

The hydroelectric plants will have the capacity to supply 152,000 families annually and will avoid the emission of 148,000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.

International expantion

Ecoener thus becomes a provider of safe and quality renewable energy in Ecuador and incorporates the South American country into its scope of international expansion.

Recently, the company chaired by Luis de Valdivia inaugurated two photovoltaic plants in the Dominican Republic, with a combined installed power of 97 MW, and plans to close 2024 with a total of five photovoltaic parks in operation in that country to reach an installed power of 279 MW. . Ecoener's investment program to develop these projects in the Caribbean country amounts to 289 million dollars.

Ecoener currently has 341MW in operation, 352MW under construction and 1,366 under development.
