Ecosul posts US$1.75mn H1 net profit

Brazilian toll road operator Ecosul posted a 5.32mn-real (US$1.75mn) net profit in the first half, versus a 553,000-real net loss in 1H03, Ecosul said in a filing to the country's securities regulator (CVM). For the period, gross revenue jumped 40% to 23.2mn reais and operating profit closed at 2.81mn reais, versus a 552,000 reais operating loss in 1H03. In 2003, Ecosul posted an 875,004-real net loss compared to a 7.71mn-real net loss the previous year. Ecosul was awarded its 25-year concession contract in 1998 and currently operates 624km of highways in Rio Grande do Sul state. Primav Ecorodovias, Triunfo Participacoes e Investimentos, Ivai Engenharia de Obras and SBS Engenharia e Construcoes make up Ecosul.
