Ecuador asks army to maintain key crude transport system
Ecuadoran state oil company Petroecuador has invited the army's engineering corps to maintain the SOTE pipeline, the country's principal crude transport system.
Under a special procurement process, the military engineers would work under a three-year contract with a reference budget of US$29mn.
SOTE runs 498km from the Amazon to the Pacific and transported 65.5Mb in the first half or an average 361,823b/d, up 2.4% year-on-year.
Private operator OCP runs Ecuador's other crude transport system that carried 27.9Mb in 1H14 or an average 154,014b/d, up 10% from January-June 2013.
