Ecuador mobile lines grow 7% in 2018

Ecuador saw a 7% growth in mobile lines in 2018 for a total penetration of 92.6%, according to telecoms watchdog Arcotel.

In December the country had nearly 15.8mn mobile lines, up 1.05mn from end-2017.

América Móvil's unit Claro (Concecel) led with a 52.3% market share, followed by Telefónica Movistar (29.7%) and state-owned CNT (18.0%).

Of the total, 71.4% were prepaid and 28.4% postpaid. Of all mobile lines in the country, 7.26mn (46%) were LTE.

CNT had the largest percentage of LTE lines (87.4% of its total), followed by Movistar (49.5%) and Claro (30%).
