Ecuador seeks consultant for 50MW geothermal project

Ecuador’s state power corporation Celec is accepting expressions of interest from consultants to support the 50MW Chachimbiro geothermal project.

The contract entails preparation of the field development phase and work supervision, helping Celec during bidding for procuring drill services, and basic design of a 13.8kV transmission line for the wellhead plant.

Other tasks include preparing the environmental impact study, the engineering, procurement, implementation and construction of a wellhead plant of up to 5MW, reservoir tests, and basic design for the construction of the steam hauling system, transmission line and 50MW geothermal power generation plant.

The consultancy service is expected to begin in the second half of 2025 and will run 56 months plus 12 additional months as a liability period for defects.

Celec also has bidding underway to design the project’s civil works, offers for which are due this month.
