Ecuador's BDE gets French financing for water program
Ecuador's development bank BDE launched a technical assistance and investment development program for the water sector that will be financed with a 10mn-euro (US$11mn) subsidy from French development agency AFD.
The program will support the financial, commercial, technical and operational management areas of 11 water utilities that operate in the Sierra and Amazonas regions and serve 1.4mn residents, the bank said in a press release.
Funds will also go to seven pre-investment studies to identify future water projects.
During the presentation of the program, AFD head Bruno Leclerc said that the cooperation with Ecuador's development bank will allow local governments to carry out more ambitious water projects.
