Peru’s energy and mines ministry greenlighted the citizen participation plan for the 130MW Kuarachi solar project.
EDF-controlled Naupac Generación Renovable Perú requested the plan’s approval in April as part of the semi-detailed environmental impact study (EIS).
As part of public engagement, Naupac will hold two participatory workshops before the drafting of the EIS, and two such workshops as well as a public hearing during the study’s evaluation, ministry information shows.
The solar park is planned for the Amazon region of Loreto and would include a 160MWh battery energy storage system and connect to the existing Santa Rosa substation via a 19.8km transmission line.
The ministry also granted temporary concessions for the transmission components of two solar projects under development by Grenergy-controlled special purpose companies.
GR Chabarbamba secured a concession for 220kV line Macarena-Poroma which would link the 170MW Macarena park to the grid, and GR Caoba picked up a concession to connect the 200MW Girasol park to lines L-2033 and L-2034.
Chabarbamba and Caoba now have 24 months to carry out feasibility studies.
