EdgeUno opens PoP at V.tal datacenter in Colombia

Latin American IP transit and connectivity provider EdgeUno opened its first point of presence (PoP) in the Colombian city of Barranquilla, its fifth overall in the country.

While the site where the structure is located was not officially disclosed, the address shared by EdgeUno in the Puerto Colombia region matches with the datacenter recently opened by Brazilian neutral network V.tal.

With investments of US$20mn, V.tal inaugurated its BDC2 edge datacenter in Barranquilla in April. 

The site is projected to have total power capacity of 3MW and space for up to 200 racks after the completion of all expansion phases. Submarine cable operator Trans Americas Fiber System has signed up to land its TAM-1 submarine system at the site. 

EdgeUno’s other four PoPs in Colombia are located in Equinix’s BG1 and Odata's BG01 datacenters in Bogotá, and in the World Trade Center and Word Business Port buildings in the capital.

Overall, the company claims to be present in 53 tier III or tier IV datacenters across 11 markets in Latin America, in addition to having structures in the US, UK, Germany, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

Most of EdgeUno’s regional PoPs and content-delivery networks are in Brazil, with 14 locations in total, nine in Mexico and Colombia.
