Eductrade gets ready to build new border complex in Costa Rica
Spanish firm Eductrade confirmed to BNamericas that it won a US$53.9mn contract for a border complex project in Costa Rica and said works will start shortly.
Europa Press reported last week that the firm had secured the contract.
The new project “reinforces the relationship that Eductrade has with Costa Rica and the expansion in Central America,” the company said.
Eductrade will refurbish facilities and construct buildings with an extension of more than 20,000m2 at the Peñas Blancas border complex in Guanacaste province, on the border with Nicaragua.
The contract also includes over 72,000m2 of streets and 9,000m2 of sidewalks.
It will be the second border crossing project for Eductrade in Costa Rica after the US$30.3mn Paso Canoas project, on the border with Panama.
The projects are part of a border integration program known as PIF to boost Costa Rica’s competitiveness through the modernization of its border infrastructure, which counts on financing from the IDB.
