EIA filed for US$13bn phase of Guyana’s Stabroek block
Esso Exploration and Production Guyana submitted the environmental impact assessment (EIA) for the sixth phase of the Stabroek offshore block.
The project, also known as Whiptail, envisions 33-72 developments wells, including production and water/gas injection wells, the installation of an FPSO to produce 275,000b/d and subsea equipment.
Estimated investment for phase six reaches 2.6tn Guyanese dollars (US$13bn), according to the EIA filed with the Environmental Protection Agency.
Drilling is penciled from late 2024/early 2025 through 2030, with installation of subsea components estimated to begin in the second half of 2025 or early 2026 and FPSO installation, commissioning and start-up expected to begin in 2027.
