Medellin, March 18, 2022 | Making possible the increase of investments in El Salvador with the implementation of the best experiences of the EPM model in the management of water, sanitation and the innovation program, was the request made by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of that Country, Adriana Mira, to EPM during its diplomatic visit to the Company.

The senior official of the Salvadoran government is familiar with the history of Grupo EPM, since in this Central American country since 2011 it has been present through the subsidiary Del Sur, which distributes energy to almost half a million users in the south central zone of That country. “But now we want Grupo EPM to increase investment in El Salvador and link up with our water company ANDA. We want to rehabilitate our Lempa River, the most important in our country. We know that EPM did the same with the Medellin River and we want to know about that experience,” said Deputy Minister Adriana Mira.

EPM is recognized for its excellent handling of wastewater and river sanitation in Latin America. “At EPM we are willing to strengthen unity ties with ANDA and provide the technical and administrative capacity to manage this type of project. We can support them so that they can also carry out their sanitation program with the Lempa River,” said Santiago Ochoa, Vice President of Water and Sanitation at EPM.

The topic of innovation and good practices was another of the relevant issues that were discussed during the visit in which the Salvadoran Ambassador to Colombia, Sandra Morales, also participated, who said that it is a pleasure to see this type of company that transcends, companies that go beyond the service they provide. He insisted on the importance of making growth alliances so that all those projects related to entrepreneurship, innovation, and digital transformation match the roadmap that the government of El Salvador is drawing.

In the coming weeks, a technical team on the subject of water management from ANDA will carry out a specialized visit to address the possibilities of exchange with EPM. Similarly, the Secretary of Innovation of El Salvador, Fabrizio Mena, will motivate the Ministry of Education of his country to participate in the call for the Innóvate EPM program, and strengthen the educational model with the processes that EPM has led with schools and universities. .

With the contribution in the development of the territories that seek to improve the quality of life of their communities, EPM contributes to the harmony of life for a better world.
