Bnamericas

Construction of the US$30mn Integración roundabout and overpass in San Salvador’s metropolitan area is half complete and should be ready in H2, the public works and transport ministry reported.

On Monday, minister Romeo Rodríguez supervised the installation of beams on one of the three bridges of the project, which at 648m in length will be one of the country’s longest, according to Diario El Salvador.

The two other bridges are 96% completed, local media reported.

“Motorists heading to Apopa, Aguilares, Nejapa, Quezaltepeque or to San Salvador will access [the roundabout] using the bridges or a road that is currently under construction,” Ramírez said in an interview, according to La Prensa Gráfica.

The project, part of the capital's beltway, involves construction of 17km of highway, most of which is finished, according to Rodríguez.

Some 12km of highway is also being upgraded.
