Elecnor, Abengoa win US$78.2mn CFE contract

Mexico's state power company CFE has awarded Spanish companies Elecnor and Abengoa a US$78.2mn contract to build 11 transmission lines totaling 396km, as well as 10 substations, in Baja California, Coahuila, Chihuahua and Durango states, Abengoa said in a statement. The lines are 230kv, 138kV and 155kV; the substations total 1,233MVA transformation capacity; and the contract includes 29 feeders. Meanwhile, the Iberinco engineering subsidiary of Spain's Iberdrola started operations last week of the US$15mn, 400kV Salamanca substation in Guanajuato state, Iberdrola said in a statement. Iberinco won the bidding in December 2002.
