São José dos Campos, Brazil April 2025 – Embraer (NYSE: ERJ / B3: EMBR3), a global leader in the aerospace industry, has finalized an agreement with Intelsat to install its high-speed inflight connectivity system on E-Jets E2s during aircraft manufacturing. The system, with transmission speeds of up to 275 Mbps, offers passengers a streaming and navigation experience similar to their home networks during flight. Intelsat’s product is the first multi-orbit satellite system to incorporate an ESA (electronically Steered Band) antenna. For passengers, this translates into wider coverage, faster transmission and greater reliability. The ESA will be available for assembly line installation by the end of this year and will be offered as an option to customers.

“Intelsat is offering the first multi-orbit satellite-based inflight connectivity system, with an electronically steered antenna that will be installed at the Embraer factory. This will provide passengers with reliable and seamless connectivity as soon as the aircraft enters service,” said Rob Baird, Intelsat’s Chief Program Officer. “E2 passengers will be able to enjoy the same high-speed Internet access in flight that they already have at home, thanks to our broad coverage and low latency.”

“Installing Intelsat’s electronically-guided bandwidth connectivity at the factory and before aircraft delivery is a good example of how we are making it easier to deliver an enhanced experience to both our customers and their passengers,” said Martyn Holmes, Chief Commercial Officer, Embraer Commercial Aviation. “Offering reliable, high-speed connectivity is a key opportunity to significantly improve the onboard experience for passengers. This helps both airlines’ competitiveness and their passengers, who can enjoy greater productivity and entertainment during their flight.”

Intelsat’s LEO network has low latency, which is the delay between sending and receiving data, and provides coverage across the entire planet, including the polar regions. The GEO network is ideal for more densely populated areas, such as large cities. Intelsat’s electronically steered antenna is lightweight, and its compact profile – less than 3 inches – creates less drag compared to other designs. This helps reduce fuel consumption, in line with Embraer’s commitment to ensuring the sustainability characteristics of the E2.

McLean, N.Y.-based Intelsat operates the world's largest integrated satellite and ground network and is a leading provider of in-flight connectivity products and services.
