Emerson in Peru obtains LEED Gold certification
This Emerson press release was published in English using an automatic translation system.
Emerson’s new office project in Lima, Peru, has received LEED Gold certification for its environmentally conscious practices. The certification, which recognizes Emerson for 71 points in LEED v4 Interior Design and Construction: Commercial Interiors, identifies the project as an example of sustainability and demonstrates leadership in transforming the construction industry.
The LEED rating system is an internationally recognized green building certification system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED offers four levels of certification for new construction and major renovation projects (Certified, Silver, Gold, and Platinum) corresponding to the number of credits accumulated in five green design categories: Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources, and Indoor Environmental Quality.
This certification represents a milestone in the company's history and commitment to the Peruvian market, where Emerson has had a direct presence for almost 10 years.
This achievement also demonstrates Emerson’s broader commitment to improving its internal environmental sustainability performance globally. As part of the company’s Greening Of strategy, Emerson has set goals to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its global operations by 2030. More than half of Emerson’s emissions intensity reductions to date can be attributed to actions that drive energy efficiency, such as prioritizing energy efficiency projects; expanding the Energy Treasure Hunt program, which uncovers energy savings opportunities; consolidating facility footprints; and increasing investments in on-site renewable electricity generation at operations around the world.
