Emssat 9mth. net profit up 65.3%

Chile's Region III state water utility Emssat posted a 957mn peso (US$1.53mn) net profit in the first nine months, up 65.3% from the same period last year, the utility said in a statement to the country's securities regulator, the SVS. For the period, revenue grew 7.93% to 54.7mn pesos and operating profit jumped 66.7% to 1.12bn pesos. Emssat serves a little over 240,000 residents with 99.2% drinking water and 92.8 sewerage coverage, while wastewater treatment reaches 76.7%. It is one of four northern water utilities the government plans to put out to concession by end-December.
