ENDE Corporación, through its subsidiary company ENDE Guaracachi, began with the negotiations and basic studies for the construction and commissioning of the Contorno Bajo Solar Plant, a work that will generate 40 megawatts (MW) of clean energy, which will be located in the Ingavi province of the department of La Paz, exactly at 3,905 meters above sea level.
This photovoltaic plant will occupy an area of 35 hectares in which 71,442 monocrystallic photovoltaic panels of 540 watts (W) will be installed, which in total will generate an estimated 40 megawatts (MW) of nominal power, which will be injected into the National Interconnected System to put it available to distribution companies, so that Bolivians increase the percentage of clean energy they consume. Likewise, the project will use lithium battery technology to reinforce security and technically guarantee the reliability necessary for the system to operate in optimal conditions.
It is estimated that this project will be executed in approximately two years, in this way the department of La Paz will be part of the generation of solar energy together with Oruro, Pando, Potosí, Tarija and Beni, which also have photovoltaic generation plants managed by ENDE. Corporation.
With this project, Bolivia advances in the decarbonization of the electricity sector by expanding the supply of clean energy and considerably reducing the use of fossil fuels, such as gas and diesel, in the generation of electricity.
ENDE Corporación will continue contributing to the expansion of the use of renewable energies and the change of the country's energy matrix at the head of the Central Government, which, since the administration of President Luis Arce, delivered a solar plant in Oruro and three wind farms in Santa Cruz , in addition to promoting clean energy with the installation of distributed generation systems, the first electric stations in the country and the Cochabamba electric train, as ways of involving the population in technological change and generating new habits that protect the environment.
