The National Electricity Company (ENDE) Corporation, through its company ENDE Transmisión, has successfully completed the installation of extra-high voltage autotransformers and reactors at the Las Brechas 500 kV Substation, as part of the Carrasco-Las Brechas 500 kV Central-Eastern System interconnection project. This is the first transmission line at this voltage in the department of Santa Cruz, designed to strengthen the electricity supply in the eastern region of the country.
The specialized technical team completed the electromechanical assembly, oil filling, and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of equipment critical to the stability and efficient operation of the electrical system. These include seven 500/230 kV single-phase autotransformers with a capacity of 150 MVA, four 500 kV fixed single-phase reactors with a capacity of 35 MVAr, and four 500 kV variable single-phase reactors with a range of 21-35 MVAr. These devices regulate voltage in the area and ensure a stable, high-quality supply for end users.
State-of-the-art technology was used to install this equipment, including thermo-vacuum oil treatment plants, industrial dry air generators, vacuum pumps, mobile tanks, high-capacity cranes, and articulated hydraulic lifts, in addition to testing instruments that confirm ENDE Transmisión's technological leadership in the assembly, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of substations and lines.
This work is part of ENDE Transmisión's commitment to strengthening the country's electrical infrastructure, complying with international standards ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, and IQNet SR 10:2015.
Currently, the installed units are already energized at the Las Brechas 500 kV Substation, demonstrating the effectiveness of this project, which will be completed in the coming months. This project will strengthen the national electricity system, with a special emphasis on supplying the eastern part of the country.
These types of projects strengthen Bolivia's position as one of the countries with the most secure electrical system in South America, as ENDE has strengthened the entire electrical chain, including generation, transmission, and distribution.
