Enel Colombia secures US$300mn loan for solar, distribution projects
Enel Colombia has secured a US$300mn loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to support its solar and distribution business segments.
The operation, which will see the funds disbursed in local currency, was approved in partnership with Italian export credit agency SACE, the EIB said in a statement.
"This agreement is in line with the EU Commission’s Global Gateway Investment Agenda, and it is the first EIB framework loan exclusively dedicated to financing Enel Colombia’s sustainable development, as well as being the first EIB synthetic product with an Enel Group subsidiary," the statement said.
It added that the facility would finance the Guayepo I and II solar parks, which have combined capacity of around 486MW, and distribution initiatives such as new connections and e-mobility.
