Claudia Centurión, after the meeting held with the President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, along with other authorities such as Justo Zacarías, director of Itaipú and Félix Sosa, president of the National Electricity Administration (ANDE).

The good news is that the axis of this update that we will make has the citizen as its center and seeks to guarantee rights; have an equitable policy and sustainable development,” said the head of the MOPC.

At the same time, he recalled that Paraguay has an energy policy that was launched in October 2016, so the current administration will have as its first task; update said strategy, but with a “citizen-focused redesign.”

He added that during this process all elements will be evaluated with the aim of responding to citizen needs in order to promote sustainable development through renewable energies, and that all institutions that make up the plan are called to participate in the aforementioned update. , expecting to have the first results in about 20 days.

For his part, the Vice Minister of Mines and Energy, Mauricio Bejarano, highlighted that the main axes of this initiative consist of: guaranteeing energy security with criteria of self-supply, efficiency, minimum cost, with socio-environmental responsibility, which accompanies productive development. from the country.

He also mentioned that the aim is to ensure access to quality energy for the entire population with attention to consumer rights, in addition to intensive promotion of hydrocarbon exploration, as strategic resources to reduce external dependence and increase the generation of greater value. national attaché.

Added to the above is the fact of consolidating Paraguay's position as the axis of regional energy integration, based on the sustainable use of its natural resources and its strategic geographical location, at the same time promoting the population's understanding of the importance of energy and its sustainable use as a factor of integral development.
