PRESS RELEASE from Engie Chile
August 6, 2024
Responding to its commitment to accelerate the energy transition, ENGIE Chile took a new step in the construction of the Lomas de Taltal Wind Farm project by completing the first stage of energizing the substation. This made it possible to achieve the milestone of energizing the site's first wind turbine.
Once this initiative, located in the Antofagasta region, comes into operation, it will contribute 342 MW to the National Electric System, making it the plant with the largest renewable energy generation capacity of the company in Chile.
Regarding the beginning of this important stage, Juan Villavicencio, Managing Director GBU Renewables of ENGIE Chile, highlighted that: “This is a very important result both for the team that has worked on the construction of the park, as well as on our transformation plan. ”.
In addition, the executive added that the Lomas de Taltal Wind Farm is already more than 80% complete and 24 of the 57 manufactured wind turbines have already been installed.
