Entel fiber optics reach 100% of the capitals of the 87 municipalities of La Paz
By ABI
La Paz, July 26, 2024 (ABI). – With an investment of Bs 110 million, the state-owned National Telecommunications Company (Entel) consolidated the expansion of fiber optics to 100% coverage in municipal capitals of the department of La Paz, highlighted the Deputy Minister of Telecommunications, Gonzalo Mamani.
“With the last phase, 100% fiber optic deployment has been achieved in municipal capitals. Therefore, there is no longer a single municipal capital that does not have fiber optic deployment,” he explained in an interview with RTP.
Fiber optics allow the population access to telecommunications, internet, television and telephone.
Until April of this year, the company deployed a 39,000km Fiber Optic network that covers all the departments of Bolivia.
This work benefited the capitals of municipalities and localities with populations greater than 2,000 inhabitants.
Regarding telecommunications for the department of La Paz, 93 new radio bases are being implemented in 41 municipalities of the department, benefiting more than 13,000 inhabitants with an investment of Bs 212 million
"Last year, 3 radio bases were completed and are currently in operation. To date, we have 93 radio bases in the process of implementation, and this makes a total of 106 radio bases," he said.
