Beni, November 22, 2024 (ABI). - The National Telecommunications Company (Entel) began the implementation of the Underground Fiber Optic project in the Vaca Díez province in Beni, with an investment of more than Bs 18 million, from the company's own resources.

This project will cover two key sections: the first, between Riberalta and Guayanamerín, with 100 kilometers of fiber optics laid; and the second, the Triángulo - Sheraton section, which will have a length of 135 kilometers. The initiative's main objective is to guarantee the continuous availability of the service for the departments of Beni and Pando.

Entel's general manager, Roy Méndez, highlighted the importance of the project for the area.

“We are carrying out the channeling of the Optical Fiber, this is a project that our president Luis Arce has asked us to do as quickly as possible and we believe that this project will allow us to have greater signal availability,” he stressed.

The decision to invest in this new underground infrastructure is a response to the interruptions suffered by the aerial fiber optic network, which was particularly affected by weather conditions and forest fires in the area.

For his part, the regional manager of Entel Beni, Javier Sánchez, said that the company aims to ensure the end user a quality experience.

"Entel is working to ensure communication throughout Bolivia, which is why this new two-section channeling project is being implemented, which will help us to enhance communication," said Sánchez.

The project, which is expected to be completed in February 2025, is a response to the growing demand for connectivity in the cities of northern Beni and Pando, which are experiencing an increase in data traffic.

The mayor of Guayaramerín, Ángel Maimura, stressed that improving telecommunications infrastructure will be key to the development of the province.

"You are seeing 18 million bolivianos being invested here. We are going to have clearer, sharper, faster Entel coverage," he said.

With this investment, Entel reinforces its commitment to the development of technological infrastructure in the country, seeking to guarantee more stable and efficient connectivity, according to an institutional report.
