Entel launches Wi-Fi service

Bnamericas
Chilean telecom operator Entel has launched a wireless Internet access service for residential and corporate broadband customers, the company said in a statement. Residential customers pay 14,900 pesos (US$22) for installation and 29,900 pesos a month for broadband access, Entel said, adding that this can be used to connect two computers. The corporate package allows companies to create "hotspots" for up to 12 computers. Entel charges 69,900 pesos for installation and 69,900 pesos a month for access. Most of Chile's operators now offer wireless Internet access, known as Wi-Fi, and equipment manufacturers such as Nortel Networks and 3Com sell the equipment directly to customers.
