Espírito Santo prepares new energy regulator

Bnamericas
Governor Paulo Hartung of Brazil's Espírito Santo state sent a bill Monday to the state's legislative assembly that would create a new regulator for electric power and natural gas distribution, the state government news service reported. The new regulator - Espírito Santo state agency for public energy services (ASPE) - will be part of the economic development and tourism department Sedetur, and will replace the public services state agency Agesp, which was created in 1998. Existing taxes on electric power and natural gas will fund Aspe's 2.2mn-real (US$735,000) annual budget.
