Europeans want to invest in energy projects in Honduras
This Ministry of Energy release was published using machine translation.
The head of the Ministry of Energy (SEN), Erick Tejada Carbajal, met with officials from the European Union delegation in Honduras and the European Investment Bank (EIB) to discuss the potential for possible investments and financial support for the energy sector. from the country.
The meeting addressed issues related to the national energy sector, among which the support for rural electrification programs promoted by the government and whose objective is to illuminate every corner of the country, providing access to energy service to the entire population that for years have been deprived of receiving this vital basic service.
According to Tejada Carbajal, "the idea is to explore the investment projects that the country has in energy matters and we stress the importance of making investments in the transmission and distribution network, in addition to promoting the massive program that the government has for rural electrification ”.
The government of President Xiomara Castro has prioritized strengthening the transmission and distribution of electric power in Honduras, with a view to improving the service provided by the National Electric Power Company (ENEE).
To make prospective investments a reality, the EIB offers concessional loan terms as well as competitive interest rates, which could benefit the country's energy sector and the national economy.
Honduras is one of the Central American countries with the lowest energy service coverage rates in the entire region, so the SEN team seeks to reverse these indicators with the help of friendly countries.
