Petrobras begins implementation of industrial data platform
Brazil’s Petrobras started implementing a broad industrial data platform aimed at collecting, storing and integrating data from sensors, systems and equipment in all of its industrial plants, BNamericas has learned.
Dubbed Nautilus, the project is intended to establish the basis for analysis and development of artificial intelligence solutions, a company spokesperson told BNamericas.
The data platform is expected to promote the integration of industrial engineering and operational data, enabling efficient management of real-time information collected from sensors.
Two systems are being deployed: the Cognite Data Fusion and Dataiku, both provided by a consortium formed by Houston-based firm SLB and Indian company Birlasoft.
The Nautilus project has consulting and implementation services from Deloitte and Brazilian IT firm Compass UOL.
Largely used by energy companies worldwide, Cognite Data Fusion is an open software platform available on Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
It provides access to industrial data and helps companies make better decisions about production, maintenance and safety, according to the service description.
Dataiku is a data science and machine learning platform created by the US company of the same name founded in 2013.
GOALS
With Nautilus, Petrobras is seeking to reduce the time to analyze and process operational data while being able to apply AI solutions more quickly, according to the company source.
From a business standpoint, the oil giant anticipates more streamlined implementation of advanced analytics and AI solutions, including predictive maintenance, fault identification and integrated visualizations of assets, BNamericas was told.
The implementation will be carried out gradually, starting with cases with selected Petrobras' business segments this year and moving toward a broader release for all business areas throughout 2025.
The expectation is that the data platform will be adopted in all of the company's industrial areas.
