FiBrasil surpasses US$200mn in investments with 50 leasing contracts

FiBrasil, a wholesale fiber JV created by Telefônica and Canada’s CDPQ, has to date invested over 1bn reais (US$202mn) in the expansion and modernization of networks, CEO André Kriger said during the Painel Telebrasil event in Brasília.

The company has closed contracts for the use of its network with over 50 companies, among them internet service providers, and mid-sized and big telcos, said Kriger.

It was the first time that the JV, which was created in 2021, provided a specific figure for its client base.

According to Kriger, FiBrasil's fiber network now reaches 2.6mn homes passed in 151 Brazilian municipalities, with over 600,000 end-user clients. The company also employs 233 professionals directly and "thousands" more indirectly, he said.

Five ERPs in the market used by telcos and ISPs are already integrated in FiBrasil’s systems, he added.
