First import of liquefied natural gas to will arrive in Ecuador on Jan. 11

Two million cubic feet of liquefied natural gas (LNG) will arrive in the country on January 11, 2022. The cargo is the first import of this type of fuel in the history of Ecuador, which will be carried out by the private company SYCAR LLC , duly qualified and authorized by the ministry of energy and non-renewable natural resources.

The LNG will be stored and transported in tanks designed for this purpose. As explained by the importing company, the distribution to the final customer will be made directly from the Isotank, so the infrastructure of EP Petroecuador will not be used.

Deputy minister of hydrocarbons, María Cristina Cadena, among other authorities of the hydrocarbons sector, will participate in the act of receiving the cargo at the deep-water port in Posorja, Guayas province.

The national government is promoting private investment to strengthen the Ecuadorian economy and improve the quality of derivatives that are marketed in the country, in accordance with the provisions of Executive Decree No. 95.
