First liquefied natural gas distribution contract for Panama and Costa Rica

Panama, June 04, 2020.- Colon LNG Marketing (1) and Tropigas Natural SA (2) signed this week the first contract for the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) through tank truck loading for markets of Panama and Costa Rica.
The agreement began on June 1, 2020, allowing the use of clean fossil fuel to provide energy solutions to all types of industry such as food, beverages, manufacturing in general, as well as energy producers, businesses , land and sea transport, and the hotel industry.
Miguel Bolinaga, President of AES in Panama, stated “we are pleased with this important LNG distribution agreement that will allow us, together with our new strategic partner, to make available to Panama and Costa Rica a new fuel that will open up new opportunities for the local and regional economy. ”
"With this distribution agreement we seek to supply the growing need of the local and regional market to produce goods and services through more environmentally friendly fuels, also generating business development opportunities associated with this new fuel," said Guillermo de Roux, General Manager of Tropigas Natural, SA, part of the Tropigas group of companies, a 100% Panamanian capital group.
AES Colón's investment amounts to some 1,150 million dollars, which includes the generation plant, a regasification plant, a 180,000 m3 gas storage tank, a dock with the capacity to serve vessels from 3,000 to 160,000 m3, and a trucks for distribution of liquefied natural gas.
