The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Javier Giménez, headed this Thursday the first meeting of the Strategic Council for Electric Mobility (CEME), made up of several institutions, with the aim of aligning strategies for concrete actions to promote and encourage electric mobility in the country. .

For his part, the president of the National Energy Administration (ANDE), Félix Sosa, valued the opportunities offered by electric mobility. However, he acknowledged that sometimes isolated efforts are made without concrete results. Likewise, he commented that he acquired 23 electric vehicles of Chinese origin.

Meeting agenda

The organization chart of the working groups and the presentation of reports on actions carried out within the framework of the transition towards electric mobility in Paraguay were formed, the ANDE report on the actions carried out within the framework of the gradual transition to mobility electricity, the presentation of the AFD on the Financing Projects and the MOPC report on the acquisition of 100% electric buses for the execution of the comprehensive plan to strengthen the national urban transportation system.

At another point, the presentation of the development of a Communication Strategy with the support of the IDB, validation of the “Ñamyi Paraguay” brand, activation of the web portal https://ceme.com.py/, and the different social networks ( X, Instagram and Facebook). The invitation to launch the brand jointly with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is also extended to all members of the strategic council.

CEME objectives

The Strategic Council for Electric Mobility was created by decree of the Executive Branch No. 8,840/23, “by which the National Electric Mobility Strategy is approved and the Strategic Council for Electric Mobility is created”, and Launch of the National Electric Mobility Governance System. the Electric Mobility Policy.

It should be noted that among its objectives, the CEME has the promotion of the reduction of emissions from the transportation sector, in the face of electric mobility and the promotion of the electric vehicle industry within the national territory. In addition, it will reinforce national urban transportation with efficient and quality services, and can also represent benefits in terms of savings and foreign exchange earnings for the country.
