Guadalajara, Jalisco. August 28, 2024.- Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP) announces the investment allocated for its 12 airports in Mexico to be carried out during the next five-year period 2025-2029, a figure that amounts to more than 52 billion current pesos each year. This amount represents a historic sum as it is the largest investment, to date, to be made in these air terminals.
“Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico is committed to improving our airports in every way. These investments are carefully analyzed and designed to add additional capacity at GAP airports for the future growth of the regions where we operate. Our primary objective is passenger service, but also to contribute to the economic development of Mexico, with airports that have optimal conditions for passengers, the exchange of goods, strengthening our position as air connection points with other latitudes and attracting airlines that wish to invest in Mexico; the potential is enormous and we want to contribute to this,” said Raúl Revuelta Musalem, general director of GAP.
Guadalajara (GDL), Tijuana (TIJ), Los Cabos (SJD), Puerto Vallarta (PVR), Guanajuato (BJX), Mexicali (MXL), La Paz (LAP), Morelia (MLM), Hermosillo (HMO), Aguascalientes (AGU), Los Mochis (LMM) and Manzanillo (ZLO) are the airports in Mexico managed by GAP, which during the last five years saw improvements in their infrastructure, operation and passenger service. This trend will be reinforced in the period 2025-2029 with the following investment amounts per airport, which will allow a 60% growth in terminal capacity, a 45% increase in passenger inspection points, a 25% increase in aircraft platforms, and a 20% increase in the airfield.
*Figures in millions of pesos.
This information is released after concluding the ordinary review of the Master Development Plan (PMD). The amounts were approved by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport ( SICT ), through the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) for the period 2025-2029; remembering that the airports are property of the Federal Government and GAP is one of the authorized concessionaires to operate the aforementioned air terminals.
The main project of this five-year period will be for the Guadalajara airport, with the construction of a completely new 69,000-square meter terminal that will allow for an increase in passenger capacity of approximately 70%, in addition to investing in the purchase of land for the territorial reserve and future construction of a third runway and a third terminal. The second most important project is the expansion of the Tijuana airport terminal by 34,000 square meters, and the third is the expansion of the Los Cabos airport terminal by 18,700 square meters.
Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico demonstrates its commitment to the development of quality, safe and modern airport infrastructure for the country, as well as to the development and future growth of passenger and cargo transportation in the cities served by the Group's airports.
