Santo Domingo. Dominican Republic .- The Dominican Government, through the National Energy Commission (CNE), signed two definitive concession contracts for the execution of the Washington Capital Solar Park 4 and Washington Capital Solar Park 5 projects, intended for the generation of electricity from photovoltaic solar energy.
The contracts were signed by Edward Veras, executive director of the CNE, representing the Dominican State, and Serge Gharibian, general manager of the commercial companies WCGF Solar IV, SRL and WCGF Solar III, SRL, companies responsible for the development of both parks.
Each project will feature:
Nominal capacity: 48.12 megawatts (MWn).
Peak capacity: 71.66 megawatts (MWp).
BESS storage system: 15.12 MW and 60.48 MWh.
Both will be located in the municipality of San Antonio de Guerra, Santo Domingo province.
CNE Director Edward Veras stressed that these projects are an important milestone in the progress towards a more diversified and sustainable energy matrix. “The incorporation of these projects will not only increase the country's renewable electricity generation capacity, but will also contribute significantly to the reduction of carbon emissions and to the economic development of the region,” he said.
Serge Gharibian said Washington Capital Solar Park 4 and 5 are an example of the country's potential to attract sustainable investments that benefit both the environment and local communities.
