Statement from the Ministry of Public Works, Services and Housing of Bolivia

The constitutional president of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Luis Arce, together with the Minister of Public Works, Services and Housing, Edgar Montaño, declared the inclusion of the "Integration" highway into the Fundamental Road Network (RVF) a national priority that will directly link the departments of Potosí and Cochabamba.

The protocol delivery ceremony of Law No. 1550 took place in the municipality of Santivañez, in Cochabamba, and in the municipality of San Pedro de Buena Vista, in Potosí.

“Very happy to be at this first milestone of a long-awaited work throughout the north of Potosí and Cochabamba, and also for Oruro and Chuquisaca, which will also indirectly benefit from the work,” Arce said at the delivery ceremony in the municipality of San Pedro de Buena Vista, Potosí.

For his part, the head of Public Works explained that the highway will have a length of 359 kilometers and will cross eight provinces and 10 municipalities of both beneficiary departments, and will require an estimated investment of 700 million dollars.

“The name of this road is no coincidence; the president is integrating the municipalities, provinces and will now unite Potosí and Cochabamba,” Montaño said in Santivañez, Cochabamba.

It will be a “strategic highway,” said Arce, because it will be linked to three other fundamental routes: highway 1, on the Oruro-Potosí section: highway 6, which is Diagonal Jaime Mendoza on the Oruro – Sucre section, and highway 4 between Caracollo and Cochabamba.

"The Ministry of Public Works, Services and Housing, and the Bolivian Highway Administrator (ABC) will be responsible for managing this incorporation and carrying out its actions, our government is fulfilling its commitments," said the Deputy Minister of Transportation, Enrique Ponce de León, in San Pedro de Buena Vista.

The highway covers the sections Cruce Cieneguillas Crossing – Thapaña – Jahuacaya – Cruce Puente – Caquena – Puente Caquena – Puente Calasaya – Puente Chicamulli – Actara (Tomás Frías Chayanta) Copacabana – Tamaucuri (Diagonal Jaime Mendoza), Colquechaca – Inka Finkina – Esquincachi – Ñequeta – Chiro Kasa – Mallko Cota – Sacani Kayawi in the department of Potosí, linked to Apillapampa – Capinota – Santivañez (Industrial Park) Arbieto in the department of Cochabamba.
